Called demented by most, as his multitude of scars and ability to grin at insane acts of violence toward others and himself makes this accusation seem true. When he learned as a child that his real mother was Ruth, the nun who had been his teacher, Jei snapped and murdered his adoptive parents and sister, then blocked out the memory, developing a vendetta against God and Christians. In the Dramatic Image albums III and IV, he and Schwarz meets a young woman named Sally Schumars while on the run. She is a timid witch who is trying to escape from Rosenkreuz, a group of people with special gifts similar to Schwarz's, and Schwarz has a complicated history with the Rosenkreuz organization. Farfarello and Sally fall in love, one of the main reasons being given is that she makes him feel again. At the end of the fourth Dramatic Image album, he and Sally part from Schwarz with Schwarz's sort of "blessing." Farfarello's name comes from one of the demons in Dante's Inferno.

By himself in a candle lit room, he un-bandages his arm and cuts his shoulder, enjoying the pain before licking the knife. Later, he harasses a priest asking him why god doesn’t stop war, then that there is no god and that the priest knows this. He dramatically removes his coat and uses his pick to slice down his bandaged stomach. Farfarello punches the priest to the ground when he tries to stop him cutting himself. Looking up at a statue, Farfarello proclaims for it to look that he's desecrating this body he made. He asks why he's silent, and why doesn't he split him open right now as he's a sinner. After a moment of thinking back to himself as a child with his hands covered in blood, presently he turns to the priest and asks him how strong is his faith. Stating he will bless him with holy water, Farfarello reveals a jug of acid, of which a single drop burns the carpet.
Restrained and upside down, Farfarello wonders why god had to take his father, mother and sister. Schuldig enters the room and informs him his punishment is done.
Entering a church, Farfarello extinguishes the candles where Ruth is praying and falls to his knees tearful as she runs over. He knows it’s the anniversary today, how could he forget. When Ken and Omi crash through the window, Farfarello laughs and using his pick he takes Ruth hostage. Indifferent to the dart Omi throws into his shoulder, after evading Ken's punch, he punches him in turn and then elbows Omi as well.
Bringing Ruth to a cliffside house, he bluntly asks her that he heard she was looking for him, it's been fourteen years since he’s seen this thing, referring to the red cloth Farfarello is clutching in his hand. Recalling when he was younger when he believed what Ruth told him about god creating everything, and that he memorised the whole story of creation, Farfarello remarks that he believed and his parents also believed. When he found his family killed, he asks where was god then, that he is a victim of Ruth's religion. Throwing the cloth into a bath of acid, he questions if Ruth is scared now. Stating he hasn’t committed crimes, the things he done were good, and Farfarello declares himself just a victim. Holding Ruth over the acid bath, he instructs her to say there is no god in which case he will let her live, before choking her.
He remains completely oblivious to multiple darts and claw attacks from a sudden joint attack from Omi and Ken. Pulling the darts out one by one, before stabbing into his hand with his pick, Farfarello manages to resist further darts impacting his chest and slashes from Ken before overcoming them both. He tells Ruth he is not Jei anymore, he is Farfarello and stating it's over his eyes are enveloped in red as he stabs at Ken.
Seeing that Ruth has endured his attack, he calls her an idiot, and he is clearly shaken when told that he was the one who killed his parents and sister in the past. Insisting it’s a lie, Farfarello is adamant that he is a victim, but upon seeing Ruth’s hand scars he remembers that seeing his family killed he also stabbed Ruth who injured her hands when she gripped the blade.
His grip on his weapon is loosened by a fraction and Omi and Ken use that moment to attack. He dodges crossbow fire from Omi but is sent flying into the air by Ken uppercutting him, and he lands tipping the acid bath over. Farfarello is rescued by the timely arrival of Schuldig crashing through the wall of the building and Crawford joins them in retreating within the vehicle.
When he regains consciousness, Farfarello is unaware that by murdering Ruth he has killed his own mother, and simply comments to Crawford and Schuldig that resurrection isn't even funny before smiling contently.
